22nd & 23rd February 2008: NEC Birmingham

.......on Friday 22nd February the very FIRST Removers & Storers Show opene at the NEC, Birmingham. We thought it would be a good opportunity to see our current suppliers, compare them for quality & value to alternative removals company suppliers and generally try and put a little UMPH!! into what is currently a pretty quiet year for our industry.

The 'first band of rogues' we saw, cl;everly positioned near the entrance, was BASIL FRY & COMPANY. They are specialist InsuranceBrokers to the Removals and Storage Industry and have been our brokers for years (over 10!). Recently bought out by a long term Partner Philip Wildman they continue to provide us with an excellent service. They provide us with our storage cover, our transit cover and we have recently switched our vehicle insurance over to them.

Claims are not common but do occassionally occur. The procedure with Basil Fry is fairly straightforward and they deal with the majority of minor queries from the client, simply processing them as per the details included in the Terms & Conditions clients receive with there Removals or Storage quotation

HELP I AM MOVING DOT COM are a website devoted helping those on the move!!! And it does a very good job of it. We chose to advertise with them a few years ago, as part of there site gives removal companies for each geographical location.

A key part of the site is the QUOTATION CALCULATOR. This really does provide your prospective removals company with an excellent idea of how much you have to move, providing it is filled in carefully and fully!!

ALBERT HEYWOOD OF LEEDS supply most of our removals or storage supplies, such a transit blankets, paper blankets, packing paper, printed boxes, tape etc etc. There service is second to none, staff are great and prices (which we periodically check) very fair.

And last but not least we saw the RAWLINSON PACKAGING stand. We buy our Standard Storage Containers from them and find them to be a reliable Company to do business with. We also self store in these containers.
